Be Dog Friendly is a campaign run by the Kennel Club which aims to encourage non-pet businesses and public places across the UK to adopt a dog friendly attitude for the benefit of the nation's 8m dogs and their owners.

Dogs are often regarded as man's best friend but do not always get treated as such, with dog owners finding it difficult at times to cater for their needs especially when out and about.

Be Dog Friendly will recognise and reward those businesses and places that go the extra mile for dogs and their owners.

Benefits Of Being Dog Friendly

Whether you are a pub, hotel, restaurant or high street store who could benefit from the improved atmosphere that dogs foster or a firm whose employees could benefit from the reduced stress that dogs help to create - you are encouraged to get on board!

In Kennel Club research, four out of five businesses said that trade increased as a result of welcoming dog owners and their dogs.

A recent US study found that half of all businesses surveyed noticed a decrease in absenteeism after dog's were introduced, 56% said that dogs had helped improve work relations, and 67% said that having a dog at work had improved staff morale.

If you are not currently running a dog friendly policy, but would like to give it a try, why not join the Kennel Club's Be Dog Friendly Week. It is the perfect opportunity for businesses owners and managers to discover the many benefits of being dog friendly.

  • Your contact details are up to date before you travel
  • Take extra care when your dog is off the lead
  • If you are a Petlog customer, download the my dog app to send alerts if your dog goes astray
